Sydney Morning Herald’s Half Marathon 2017 – Outcomex Runners
Ready. Set. Go!
At Outcomex, we’re all about a healthy balance between work and play (and a little bit of sweat). Sporting events are a great way to get blood pumping and challenges the team to work together in new ways.
Four of our hard working staff – Andrew Prime, Luca Palermo, David Milne and Michael van Zoggel – took some time out of their busy schedules to join together and race in Sydney Morning Herald’s Half Marathon. The marathon took place in Sydney’s Central Business District on Sunday 21st May, starting at 6:45am with the first runner completing the race by 8:00am. The course is 21.1km, taking runners from Hyde Park, past Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, Circular Quay and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
“The event was a great opportunity to spend time with colleagues outside of work and a challenge to myself, something I’d never come close to doing before. Knowing I had colleagues running the course helped keep me motivated. We all shared training stories, and last minute tips before the big run. The half marathon was a great experience all round, lots of encouragement, especially from the running veterans on the team”. – David Milne, Engineer, who started training for the SMH Half Marathon in January.
The event has been running for 26 years, with the primary initiative of fundraising money for your team’s selected charity. This year, an amazing result of $900,000 was raised through efforts 12,000 participants. The Outcomex runners joined the Breast Cancer Institute Australia (BCIA) team, whose long term vision works towards zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.
The Outcomex team is excited to have been a part of such a fantastic initiative for the 26th year in a row. We are gearing up for City2Surf next!
